<p><em>New service gives campus residents more accessibility to off-campus property news, features, and updates</em></p>
<p>RALEIGH, NC – March 17, 2011 – The Preiss Company, one of the largest  off-campus student housing providers in the nation, has recently  launched mobile websites for all of its student housing properties.   Partnering with Resite Online, a division of Dominion Enterprises, the  Raleigh real estate company has developed these new websites to allow  current and prospective residents greater access to property news and  property management.</p>
<p>&#8220;In the past year, our property websites had over 340,000 visitors,  and this number is expected to increase as we continue to add to our  student housing portfolio,&#8221; says The Preiss Company Marketing Director,  Amy Barger.  &#8221;Our management team is constantly updating our sites with  the newest technology—from interactive floor plans to online rent  payments.  We need to make sure that this information is readily  available and in the hands of the people who need it most—wherever they  may be and from whatever device they may be using.  By supplementing our  current websites with mobile versions, we can ensure that our current  and prospective residents have on-demand access to information that is  easier to read, more concise, and more compatible with the mobile  devices that they are likely using throughout the course of their day.&#8221;</p>
<p>Ann Padgett, Creative Director for Resite Online, says that mobile  websites were a natural, technological progression for The Preiss  Company.  Given the mobility of today’s college student, mobile websites  give this     target market access to information via any mobile  device—smart phones, tablets, and even hand-held game devices.  Mobile  websites are specifically designed to maximize smaller screen  resolutions, are simpler to navigate, and provide real-time, two-way  communication via SMS (short message system) messaging.</p>
<p>&#8220;When we started working with The Preiss Company, we originally built  their websites using a lot of interactive Flash animation,” explains  Padgett. “Since Flash is not supported by most mobile devices, the  usability of their websites was limited. By adding the mobile versions,  we were able to expand their target audience and provide them with a  better user experience, in addition to the expanded SMS messaging  service.&#8221;</p>
<p>Resite Online&#8217;s mobile applications allow community staff and  marketing teams to communicate specials, events, community emergencies  and more. Resite’s mobile websites and SMS messaging services act as a  mobilized leasing tool, easily capturing prospect information and  enabling leasing teams to respond via text or email. <p>&#8220;In just weeks, we&#8217;ve already seen our investment beginning to pay  off,&#8221; says Barger.  &#8221;We&#8217;re getting daily leads from every one of our  mobile websites, and the overall response has been fantastic.&#8221;</p>

Resite provides desktop website users with the ability to have property information and directions texted directly to their cell phone via 2 ways:</p>

<li> <strong>Send-to-Phone</strong> enables users to enter their cell number on an apartment community’s website and be sent the property&#8217;s contact information, short description and mobile site url, in addition to a prompt to request further information like a PDF flyer or directions. All of this information is texted to the user’s cell phone regardless of whether or not their cell phone is WAP capable. That user’s cell number is then captured as a lead.</li>

<p>The competition ends just in time to kick off the <a title="2010 CHKD Run/Walk for the Kids" href="http://www.runwalkforthekids.org/">2010 CHKD Run/Walk for the Kids</a> on June 19th in downtown Norfolk.  All the proceeds from the RunWalk go to CHKD (Children&#8217;s Hospital of The King&#8217;s Daughters).  CHKD relies on support from the community to provide the best health care to our region&#8217;s children.  Whether a child needs hospitalization, ongoing care for a chronic illness, outpatient surgery or primary care, CHKD Health System provides the staff, facilities and technologies that address the unique demands of childhood.</p>
<p>Why Should We Walk?</p>
<p>Because it is healthy, fun and will get us in shape for the race and even for sum­mer!  If that’s not enough—did you know that adding only 30 minutes a day of light exercise in intermittent periods will boost weight loss and promote positive health changes?  Breaking up your 30 minutes throughout the day still provides the same positive effects as doing the 30 minutes all at once!  Also, exercising regularly helps boost brain power, wards off illnesses, melts away stress and anxiety, pumps your heart, allows you to eat more and makes your muscles more efficient!</p>
<p>According to <a title="Wikipedia - Pedometer" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedometer">Wikipedia</a>, &#8220;A total of 10,000 steps per day, equivalent to 5 miles (8.0 km), is recommended by some to be the benchmark for an active lifestyle, although this point is debated among experts.&#8221;</p>

      <p>It&#8217;s no surprise I was disappointed that I was unable to attend the Apartment Internet Marketing Conference this year. We have a lot of really exciting things going on here at Resite right now. Supporting my team, my customers, and my business is always my top priority, and in this case trumped attending the conference.</p>

I am very excited to see how much our industry as grown, especially in a social media sense. I cannot thank them enough for sharing the knowledge they gained by attending. There was so much good info that I started to compile a list of the tweets that intrigued me the most, so that I too could share the knowledge with others that were unable to attend.
